COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Inventory occurs when the cost of "not
having" inventory exceeds the cost of "having" inventory.
This course will help you clearly understand the various functions
of inventory (transit, decoupling, lot sizing, anticipatory, seasonal
and buffer), as well as the various forms of inventory (raw materials,
work in process, finished goods, etc.) and their role in a production
operation. Participants will learn about inventory management ratios
and how they are used to manage inventory levels for positive bottom
line impact. The costs associated with carrying inventory and its
impact on operating efficiency and bottomline profitability will
be pursued in detail. The course will explore tools and tactics
for effectively managing and reducing inventory within a manufacturing
operation.
